OEN NewsOEN Member Conversations: NOWCFO

In June, OEN sat down with Aubrianna Loewer, Business Development Representative for NowCFO to talk about the ways they support startups in all areas of finance. NOWCFO even recently received a shoutout from Kevin O’Leary (“Mr. Wonderful” for all you Shark Tank fans out there) about the great work they are doing for startups across the country. Aubrianna is local here in the Portland Metro area and is passionate about helping businesses grow.

Can you tell us about NOW CFO and its mission?

NOW CFO is a financial consulting firm that provides outsourced CFO, controller, and accounting services to anywhere from startups to mid market business. Our mission is to help as many businesses we can tackle their financial and accounting complexities. We really pride ourselves in rolling up our sleeves and working alongside the owner as a partner would. We work directly with business owners and bill on an hourly rate for whatever their business needs are. Think of us as “Rent A CFO/Rent An Accountant!”

What inspired NOW CFO to support OEN and entrepreneurship in the region?

We want to support startups. It’s great to see us scaling with the startups.NOW CFO is all about fostering business growth and innovation. Supporting OEN (Oregon Entrepreneurs Network) fits perfectly with our dedication to nurturing the entrepreneurial ecosystem through offering resources, mentorship, and financial support to founders. I personally love working with startups from a business development perspective and being their guiding hand as much as we can.

How does NOW CFO align with OEN’s goals and values?

NOW CFO and OEN share the same goal: empowering businesses to thrive and supporting the community. It comes down to collaboration and support. NOW CFO’s financial consulting really complements OEN’s mission to support entrepreneurs through education, networking, and resources, strengthening a strong partnership. Educating founders on the financial backbone of their company helps set them up for success.

What impact do you hope to make by partnering with OEN?

By partnering with OEN, NOW CFO aims to significantly boost the growth and success of local entrepreneurs. We want to provide crucial financial guidance and support to help startups and growing businesses achieve financial stability and scalability. By supporting small businesses in the are we are ultimately feeding the local economy which is really impactful and important. As they grow and add employees through new jobs, you are indirectly helping the economy.

Can you share a specific success story or accomplishment that resulted from your support?

One specific case that comes to mind is when we when we engaged at both the CFO and Staff accountant level for a local micro chip processing plant. Their intent was to cleanup their financials and put together a robust pitch deck to market to potential investors. We worked with the company for about four months in cleaning up their internal financials, laying out
procedures, and building out a strategic plan. After those projects were completed we put together a pitch deck and forecasted financials so they could prospect for potential investment.

We assisted them in the process of securing 10 million in a private equity investment. We still engage with the client today with their financials and ongoing support.

How has sponsoring OEN benefited NOW CFO and the team?

Sponsoring OEN has allowed us an ability to connect more intimately into the start up community. I find our consulting such a value add to a founder in an early stage company. The consultants on the team get excited working with an emerging company and just ways we can support. We appreciate the opportunity to spread the word on such a needed resource.
What would you tell another organization interested in supporting OEN through sponsorship and what advice do you have for other organizations looking to support entrepreneurs?

Supporting OEN through sponsorship really is a great way to support a growing entrepreneurial eco system. My advice would be to get involved and find ways to lend a helping hand to founder life. Building a company from the ground up is a feat in itself so by having trusted advisors and letting the founders know you are hear to help is so crucial. Being a sponsor of OEN is a great way to network and engage in the community and shows how proactive you are and your abilities to collaborate.
