While many view entrepreneurship as a dream career, starting a venture from scratch can be risky, exhilarating, exhausting — sometimes all at the same time. As an entrepreneur, you are constantly under pressure to perform, meet deadlines and deliver results – which can ultimately take a toll on your mental health.
According to a study by the National Institute of Mental Health, 72% of entrepreneurs are directly or indirectly affected by mental health issues compared to just 48% of non entrepreneurs. These findings underscore the need for more support, and more importantly, tackling the biggest challenges entrepreneurs face when it comes to their mental health – asking for help.
OEN hosted a frank conversation with regional entrepreneurs about steps you can take to be proactive in your mental health journey, and what resources and support systems are available to help during difficult times.
