Oregon and the Northwest are now “a real hotbed” for commercial drone development, with companies such as: SkyWard, a Portland-based company which creates drone management software platforms; Honeycomb, a leader in precision agriculture solutions based in Wilsonville; XProHeli, a leader in aerial video and photography based in Bend; and Northwest UAV Propulsion Systems, which designs and builds unmanned aerial vehicle engines and control and support systems for a variety of applications from its facility in McMinnville.
