Oregon BEST, one of Oregon’s Signature Research Centers, is offering two special events in Portland in conjunction with Oregon BEST FEST 2013 for a general audience of entrepreneurs, small business owners and economic development professionals.
1) In-depth Seminar on how to Obtain SBIR/STTR Grants
This seminar is designed for anyone interested in learning how to access federal Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer grant funding. This seminar will be relevant to any company that might be a candidate for R&D grant funding under the federal SBIR/STTR Programs.
This half-day seminar will be taught by a nationally recognized expert in SBIR/STTR grants, Mark Henry of Grow Emerging Companies. Grow Emerging Companies offers unmatched expertise in helping firms obtain R&D funding from the federal government. Mark is a nationally recognized expert in securing R&D grants through the $2.5 Billion federal SBIR/STTR Programs. Mark is a 3-time national Tibbetts Award winner for SBIR success, and has supported production of more than 1,800 proposal efforts under this program. 2) Entrepreneurship Breakfast & Discussion on Building Vibrant Innovation Ecosystems
Join us for a continental breakfast and hear Lesa Mitchell, the Vice President of Innovation & Networks at the Kauffman Foundation, lead a lively discussion of the issues, challenges and opportunities associated with building start up communities that grow regional economies.
Lesa was instrumental in the founding of the Kauffman Innovation Network/iBridge Network, the Translational Medicine Conferences in the United States and Europe, and the National Academies-based University–Industry Partnership. She also is a leader in the replication of innovator-based commercialization and mentor programs across the United States. Here are the details.
